Emergya becomes Telefonica’s key digital partner
We migrated and developed the new social innovation website for 02 in the United Kingdom. Thanks to Drupal and agile methodologies, the project was developed remotely from Spain with 100% success.
Challenge
O2 is a European telecommunications company specialised in the mobile telephone sector. It has belonged to the Telefonica group since 2006 and has 28 million clients throughout the United Kingdom, Germany and the Republic of Ireland.
In 2015, the platform which offered online support for the whole social innovation policy of O2 (through the ThinkBig project) was found to be in the following blocked situation:
-
Functionally the platform was not scalable due to the high cost of making any modifications.
-
Annual licence costs associated to software licences based on the platform which offered no value.
-
The administration of the high volume of existing data at user and project level meant the development of a new control panel adapted to the necessary reporting.
We were able to reuse the majority of our software, as well as the experience and good practices we learned in previous similar projects
The principal objective of this project was to be able to reuse not only a great amount of the software, but also all the experience, knowledge and good practice acquired from a similar project in Spain for a great company in the U.K.
Solution
Advanced multimedia administration, development of advanced report generation modules, application of workflows completely personalised for the needs of the client
The most important features which we created were: improving the existing platform in terms of multimedia administration, the graphic dashboard, the modules of business intelligence and reporting and the implementation of the workflow of the projects within the platform.

Results
Among the many results which we obtained from this project, the most important for us is, the satisfaction of the client. However, helping this project for young entrepeneurs and social innovation to improve its impact on society makes us feel more than satisfied:
- 1 million young people successfully supported and inspired to launch community projects, engage in social action, develop digital skills and gain the self-confidence necessary to get ahead in the job market.
- Maintenance costs were reduced by 30%.
- Improved user experience and satisfaction.
